Leaking showers

What if you can have your cake and eat it too!

“Dude, what does cake have to do with a leaking shower? I just want my shower fixed!”
Patience is a virtue, if you let me finish, I’ll explain. “Grrrrrr! I just want my shower fixed!”
Ok, ok just hold on a got the perfect cliché for you and……… “please I’ve had a long day, kids are driving me insane, and my better half is busting my chops. Just tell me in the least number of words as possible how Shower Repair Expert can make my life easier…… please!!!”
Since you asked so nicely, let me begin. It all started back 1865…………. just kidding. Sorry couldn’t help myself. LOL

No more promise!!!

Leaking showers are a pain in the backside (where have I heard pain in the backside before?) and can cause a great inconvenience especially if you don’t have a spare shower. They can cause great damage if left for a long time and it can turn quite expensive. Many companies in the marketplace claim to fix leaking showers and balconies without the removal of tiles, and honestly speaking that sounds great, doesn’t it? I mean who wouldn’t go for it? That’s the magic of marketing, it can convince even the most seasoned professionals. When this concept first came out in the 80’s, it was great and people we’re excited from landlords to homeowners and strata companies. Now it seems to have been nothing more than a fad, a mere band-aid fix a la carte if I may.

You may ask, well why are a lot of companies still offering this service? And that my friend is a great question! Kudos to you (loud cheering and clapping). Giving credit where it is due, this sealing system does work in the short term (maybe 1 year if you’re fortunate) maybe more depending on the frequency of building movement in your property. Cracks in your property represent building movement and you know the grout in the corners of your bathroom that you see cracks in? (Yes, I know that is supposed to be silicone) to accommodate for the movement, but most tilers wouldn’t know what silicone is if it hit them in the face! “Do your best and grout the rest” is the industry motto.

Now for the juicy part you’ve been waiting for (much obliged for your patience) *hat tip.
The sealing process is simple: take out the existing grout, replace it with an epoxy resin grout (oil-based water resistant) I only found out recently the difference between waterproof and water resistant………… don’t laugh, I bet you don’t know the difference. Anyway, this epoxy grout goes into the joints, the corners, and around the floor waste penetration and it does stop the water from penetrating until……you guessed it, until you get building movement (you didn’t really guess it did you)? No, honestly if you did, kudos to you *hat tip. Building movement is inevitable just like taxes, a large part of the building code and engineering revolves around building movement. You see, an epoxy grout is strong and water resistant, but the problem is that it has zero flexibility and indeed very brittle. So, it’s not a case of if, but rather when it will fail.

At Shower Repair Expert, we do not offer this method simply because we do not believe in it. We prefer to go to the root of the problem and give you a brand-new shower, and if you knew what we knew, you would too. We have repaired many showers over the years that we’re previously sealed using the megaseal treatment, some even twice! I know hey, imagine doing it twice and then calling Shower Repair Expert. Talk about an expensive mistake! We are here to educate the public, and to save you time, money, and heartache in the long run (also to make money ourselves obviously) but we would prefer to do it ethically. What drives us is simple, we strive to be the consumers champion, bringing valuable knowledge to the public and a fixed shower! (And also make a living)
